The Ocean Observer is a speculative design project that reimagines the way younger audiences living in coastal areas engage with local news. Set in the year 2050, this project envisions an innovative, immersive news platform that transforms traditional news articles into interactive experiences accessible on desktop or on a virtual reality headset. Users can explore news stories as interactive journeys in the style of a hand drawn pop-up book, designed to ignite curiosity and help form a deeper connection with their local area.
